{req} Click Bang
Don't know if it's in a sound mod or other mod. I play with cams off most the time and would like to hear the famous Click before the bang of a charge. I tried, not smart enough to do it. I have some good Click sound files. Anyone know of it, let me know.
|
its really pretty instantanious, AFAIK, so it wouldn't be click-bang
it would be clickBOOM! but, I know where youre coming from, I read those books that say the charge clicks before it explodes. but I have not the sound suite to do it :( |
Think I almost have it, just trying to get the Click clearer and louder, so tweaking it. Just not quite right, but I'm a noob.
|
The depth charge file from DBSM is pretty close - the best I've found so far.
|
I've been searching for the ol' "click-bang" effect as was heard in SH1 and in real life (Pacific). I downloaded the SH4 DBSM conversion but found no DC sound effects. Was it in the SH3 DBSM?
Does anyone know if there's such a mod in existence? Thanks for any help/feedback! |
Oh man, did I ever mess up!!! Your question made me look, and sure enough I never moved that one from SH3 to SH4. :damn:
It's correct in SH3. Look for P05_@Depthcharge_Explosion. Or download it here: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...o=file&id=1911 Thanks for pointing that out, ViperU48. |
Awesome!/No worries Sailor Steve. I was beginning to worry about me 'necro-posting' in a really old thread, but i guess it's to our mutual benefit!
I could kiss you Steve! In a purely platonic sense of course. :D Just getting back into SH4, and with all these great mods coming out, I'm really being brought back to all the fun I used to have in SH1. Thanks again!:salute: |
so how do we get the click bang into SH 4?
|
1. Download the file from the link I posted.
2. Open the folder 'SH4/Data/Sound'. 3. Move the file from the compressed folder to the Sound folder. 4. Play the game. 5. If you want to listen to it by itself, use the Sound Recorder that comes with the computer to open that file once it is in the Sound folder. |

But NO TONGUES! :rotfl2: Seriously, tell me what you think of it. I didn't make it, and don't remember who did, but I sometimes wonder if the 'click' isn't too close to the explosion. I like it that way, but I worry that some people might disagree. |
Thanks steve. So no JSGME? Just put it in TMo sound files? I found them, just place it there?
|
Is it scaled based on range? It's my understanding that they listened for the click before the detonation to tell how close the depth charge was. IIRC, the click was the exploder firing and the WHAM was the shock wave. Much like the old adage 'you never hear the shell that gets you', if you could hear the click, the DC was probably far enough away you'd be okay.
|
I don't think so. If you're on land you can feel an explosion before you hear it, because sound travels faster through the ground than it does the air. Likewise water vs air.
Underwater the shockwave is just extreme sound, and the click and explosion should travel at the same speed. The softer sound will dissapate faster, so the click will not be heard at any great distance. I think if you don't hear the click you know you are in no danger. If you hear the click then the thing is reeeeeaaal close! |

Or just listen to it with Sound Recorder first. |
I listen for the splashes, I wish the sonar guy would say something like "can in the water" or something. Then I could stay out of the sonar station as a real captain would.:nope: The click bangs would be nice too.
