Battle Flags
As some of you have noticed I am applying to work with Battleflag.net.
From chats with DT, it sounds like at the moment I will be the only one doing these as the other members of the mod team have resigned. DT has given me permission to make boat skins and battleflags while we wait for contact from SK. Until I have access to the server patrol reports will have to be pm'd to me. Remember I need this information. 1. What Boat (USS Something) 2. Class of boat (balao, ect...) 3. Number of warships sunk 4. Number of warships damaged 5. Number of maru sunk 6. Number of maru damaged 7. Number of junks/samipans sunk 8. Number of junks/samipans damaged 9. Number of aircraft destroyed 10. Number of aircraft damaged 11. Number of raiding parties 12. Number of pilots rescued 13. Number of total tons sunk 14. Your player's rank (LCDR, CDR, CAPT, ect...) 15. Medals you earn in the game With that being said I want to lay out some boundaries so I don't get swamped with requests. Right now they are trickling in and I can do them as they come. Later if and when there are many requests I will only update a skin and battle flag per person once a month. This is subject to change depending on the number of requests. Special requests will be dealt with on a one to one basis. My main focus will be on US Navy historic subs and fictional ones from tv & movies. If you want a special logo on your boat you will have to supply the picture. Realize I am just starting to do this so my quality may be less than those before me. I'll get better with time. During the week I will primarily work on the battle flags they're quick and easy. Good Luck and Good hunting! |
Yay! I always thought that the battleflags were an important discouragement to Rambo gameplay by making us feel attached to our subs and crews. It even caused me to research my boat and learn as much as I could about its history. Thanks for taking on the work and we'll try not to overwhelm you!
Will you possibly be updating existing flags? |
A welcome site!
Congrats as someone is finally stepping up to help with this great project. I know several of us have downloaded the DIY Kit to see if we could take some of the load off the Kill Flags crew. Problem is I can't seem to get the changes to work. I've tried Photoshop, but guess I just don't know how to use it correctly. Any possibility of writing an instruction sheet for the flags and ship skins modification? Maybe some of us will be able to do our own and take the load off the crew. Keep up the great work, and good luck on this new project.

Note due to mirroring issue of skins the kill flag with the 5 in the center will be a roman number since it looks the same either way.

Here is an example of my work both the logo and flags were done by me.

Hello! rely nice work!
Im just looking to have emblem on Submarine Hull with numbers Of my SS like i see in pictures of wartime is it possible? I cant find any mod that shows Hull numbers on Hull  |
The problem we have is the way the game uses image maps. It mirrors one side. So if the number is 348 on one side on the other it will read 843. So when we put the emblem of the sub on we make sure there are no words or numbers in the logo. But other than that we can try to work on the skin.

Apology to Those waiting
An apology for my lack of services as I promised once I got moved. Due to computer issues I am very frustrated at the moment. My computer has crashed on me twice to the point I needed to reinstall windows XP after having an irrecoverable blue screen of death right after the windows splash screen. And as if the that was not enough I am getting dll file errors when trying to install SH4. So at the moment I feel like I am on the bottom of the sea floor unable to emergency blow.

The US Navy uses a Gold Star to indicate a fifth award on decorations. Maybe that would be better than a 'V'. I don't think the Navy uses roman numerals. That's more Army and Air Force, but there are so many awards now they may have started.
