Enemy location
Hi Guys:
Quick question please, why do the enemy ships not show up sometimes on the plotting map and also attack map even when they are right in front of me, also in single missions the enemy ships are no where on the maps and I have no idea where to go to start the mission, thanks so much guys. Oh I am using 1.5 with Trigger and Monsun  Regards, Rich |
On your realism settings, are you playing with the "no map contact updates" option checked?
|
Well thank you sir not sure I am at work and when I get home first thing I will check, you guys are the best, thank you.

I take it you're playing the OM U-boats since you said you had that mod?
Hadn't played U-boats in awhile. Are your men acutally spotting the ships and still no map contacts..any sonar lines? Most single mission you're not going to see anything for awhile, just follow the waypoint and wait. I assume you're not a noobie, have radar on and all that stuff. |
Hi Armistead, yup I am a rookie sorry, I use Triiger on one install and a second install with Monsun on that one so they do no conflict with each other, very nice to do it that way.

Here's an excellent tutorial about intercepting: The Hunt: An ilustrated example of how to sink a ship

Also, remember that you must check the range of the "target" you are chasing. Especially in the stock game, many of those are radioed in from reports of other units. Many of them will end up not to be productive.
In other words, those are sighting reports not contacts. You have to be very careful of the time it was sighted, which will show on your nav map. You have to be very careful about their distance. If you're in high time compression, likely by the time you see them the report is stale. Watch that time sighted! Many of them just won't be worth chasing. The ones that are might result in a 50% success rate. |
And of course those targets that you are chasing are moving also - theres this annoying little tactic called a zig zag :D
If your chasing on the surface at high time compression then they could spot you and alter course. |
Ok guys my original question is still up for grabs, I see straight lines out from sub on the nav map and attack map but not those squares which represent an enemy boat I need those to do the newbie tutorials lol any help would be appreciated.:up:

When you are surfaced you will get the little box indication all the time, submerged only when your scope is up and you see the target. Once the scope is lowered then the box indication will disapper and be replaced by the sonar lines. |
Thanks Steve thats sounds like your right on track buddy I will check first thing when I get home from work, thanks so much. I'm a flightsim guy bear with me :up:

Hope thats it Rich, we'll have you out and sinking soon :salute:
