Global warming is the new religion of First World urban elites

:hmmm:

Plimer presents the proposition that anthropogenic global warming is little more than a con trick on the public perpetrated by fundamentalist environmentalists and callously adopted by politicians and government officials who love nothing more than an issue that causes public anxiety.

The really troublesome thing is that anytime they see anything which wavers from what the believers have seen in their life times it is man made. Yet with all their galant efforts toward change, no change has occured. The definition of insanity is?????????

Tchocky 07-29-09 02:21 AM

No change has occurred?

News to me.

Diamond’s distinction between social and biological survival is a critical one, because too often we blur the two, or assume that biological survival is contingent on the strength of our civilizational values... The fact is, though, that we can be law-abiding and peace-loving and tolerant and inventive and committed to freedom and true to our own values and still behave in ways that are biologically suicidal.

If it is all hoax why does the government in Germany which is heavily influenced by lobbyists from our all mighty car industry believe in global warming? Do you believe that BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche etc... want people to believe in global warming? Hell they want to sell cars with 200+ hp! Yet they didn't manage to convince the politicians here (and I don't believe for a second that they can't be bought!) to join the US conservative side and declare GW a lie. Odd isn't it?

Climate change is real.

Whether it is caused by man, and if so to what degree, is the question.

But even if you can figure out that answer you still have figure out what to do about it without killing off half of the worlds human population because this silly cap and trade ripoff is not going to have any effect at all other than to make certain people rich.

Only thing I would comment on is why would I want to listen to a geologist? It is almost like going to a car mechanic for medical advice...

Now granted he may know a bit about warming trends in the past from geology (not much though, those trends tend not to show up very well unless they change the geology in an area (like a glacier for example), most of what we know comes from the fossil record instead which is pretty separate from geology). But he is way outside his field of expertise when it comes to current environmental patterns and changes, and determining the causes of those changes.

That he has papers and books out on the subject doesn't matter, like most books and papers out there, they probably are not worth the paper they are printed on.

So why should I listen to him?

and Al Gore is a certified expert?

Yes lets just dismiss this and continue to throw good money after bad. After all the goal is to overwhelm the system.

NeonSamurai 07-29-09 11:11 AM

Didn't say I would listen to him either.

Religion is about faith. Research is about evidence.
While it is clear that some of the people that accept the recent (and not so recent) research on climate change seek to promote a political agenda (including the aforementioned Al Gore), the very wording of Ian Pilmar leaves no doubt that he is more interested in that agenda than in his own field.

Preach on, brother, preach on.

Climate change (the looney left's new catch phrase for global warming) is a bunch of horsedung. Anyone that thinks the earth is getting warmer has never been to Thule, Greenland...
