Difficulty loading GWX3
 

I have downloaded the 1.4 patch and GWX3 onto a clean version of Silent Hunter III, however the modified game will not fully load up. I have a Dell XPS M1710, with Windows Vista. Can anybody advise?

When loading the game, if your loading bar seems to stop at about the 90% mark... that is actually normal on some systems. The first time you load a fresh installation of SH3 version 1.4b + GWX, it can take a long time.

It may seem oversimplified... but if that is the case, all you need to do is to wait longer. Much data must squeeze through a 'bottleneck' as it loads... causing long load times... especially on first loads.

Being a bit more descriptive about what steps you took to install helps us alot. (please go step-by-step) I'm specifically interested into which folder you installed it, and how you dealt with administrator priveledges in your user profile.

The .exe will not even intiallize on screen for me I have tried running it as a admin (on task manager it appears the procceses are running but only using a small amount of memory) I am using the steam version BTW.

You need to direct the GWX Installer to this location: C:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\common\silent hunter 3

This is the default location for a SH3 Steam installation and all the core files are kept here. Incidentally this is also the where you should house any/all mods or JSGME.

If you installed GWX to the (disc version) default path (C:\Program File\Ubisoft\ Silent Hunter III on your machine, when you run the EXE it won't load the game for you as the game files are elsewhere.
