Very nice, can i use this in TMO 1.7?
I allways wondered why De Ruyter was not in the game, that is untill February 27 1942 when she was sunk.. |
Nice Ship miner !:salute:
Keep on your work mate ! Greets Maddy |
I have the Asia Major book about "de Ruyter", which has lots of pics and drawings. If you need any scans, don't hesitate to ask.
Downloading right now, will be taking a close look at her. And a BIG, really BIG thank you for this one!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Had a quick look in Museum, only quibble so far is that the funnel smoke is emitted from the base rather than the top of the funnel.
|
Btw Gerrit your link doesnt work anymore,i was looking for Dutch boats..
|
Is it just me or does the ship look like the pocket battleship
|
It actually does, since both of tham share share almost the same designers.
|
This ship is awesome. My father has served on that ship. Downloading now.

Great work, & a tribute to a very brave crew!
I heard that the last signal given by Doorman as she sank was for the remaining ships not to rescue survivors, b/c it was too dangerous. Incredibly heroic & moving, IMO. :nope: |
Attached drawing, by J.H. Hoowij, shows what was left of Doorman's force- cruisers Hr.Ms. "de Ruyter", USS "Houston", HMAS "Perth" and Hr.Ms. "Java" plus his only remaining destroyer, HMS "Encounter", passing the survivors of Hr.Ms. "Kortenaer" (she bears the unhappy distinction of being the first warship to be sunk by the IJN's "Long Lance" torpedo). Doorman detached HMS "Encounter", to pick up "Kortenaer"'s survivors and take them to Soerabaja. As it turned out, this left no destroyer to pick up the survivors of "de Ruyter" and "Java"- but Doorman would probably have ordered her to continue with "Houston" and "Perth".
