Keeping formations in Destroyer Command

I'm playing the Atlantic campaign of Destroyer Command and I'd like to know if there is a way to automatically keep my ship in formation with a convoy or other group of ships I have to escort?
It's a real pain in the ass to keep the ship in formation manually, I always have to vary the speed between different levels because there is no way to input the desired speed directly like it is possible in SH3 for example (or is there a way to do that in DC?).

Keeping formations in Destroyer Command

Hold the left mouse button down on any / all DDs that YOU control (one at a time) and drag the cursor to the ship you wish to escort (you'll see a white shield w/ a black cross over it)...then release your mouse button. When you hear "aye, aye, sir" -- you're good to go. Your DD will now automatically keep formation / speed with the convoy. Same thing works for warships you may be tasked to escort as well.

Thanks, this works perfectly and it is not even mentioned in my game manual I'm afraid (it seems to be a dumbed down version which only has brief descriptions of the various stations and completely lacks descriptions for the tutorial missions).

I got another two questions:

1. What exactly does the "man battle stations" button in the squadron control box do?

2. Is there a way to switch the language in game? I saw there are english and german message text files around but I haven't found any parameter in the .ini files yet which might switch the language.

Don't know anything about switching the in-game language files, sorry (English is my only tongue)...but there are German text message files in some of the mod "read me" instructions I've seen posted...so there must be way.

I believe (but not sure) that the "Man Your Battlestations" puts your crew at a higher state of readiness which may "actually" translate into sighting enemy planes, convoys or warships SOONER than if it is not activated. I usually sound the alarm when I get contact messages from my radar station -- MYB also makes for some nice "ear candy" for a more total immersion into the game.

Is there a JSGME for Destroyer Command ?

I was eyeing the availability of new mods for Destroyer command & i want to try it again but need to know if the JSGME that is used with SH-3 is compatible with Destroyer Command ? I don't know how to manually install mods ! Are there any new patches to the game? How do you put the mods in? What are UDF, JRF, & genHood TGA extentions? Thanks

Yes JSGME can be used with DC.

UDF is the unit file with the units parameters. It can be edited with a text editor.
JRF is the model file. It is virtually untouchable.
GenHOOD TGA is a texture file for the Hood battlecruiser.

There is only on patch 1.1

I already play SH3 on my computer with JSGME. How do I play Destroyer Command with JSGME too?

Destroyer Command

How do you get it to play on an Xp?

Depends on your graphics card whether it will work or not. Mine used to work up until I put in a Nvidia 8800GT.
