What to do?
Question?
Two Southampton vessels in my scope, over 6000 meters away. I am on full speed (set speed to slow for image), but they are faster and far away. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/002.jpg 14.05 hours, depth under keel 73 meters, (North)-sea is calm. What to do? |
How fast are the going? If they're going slower than your max surface speed, wait until they are 8000-9000 meters away, surface, go to flank speed and try an end-around. If they're going faster than your surfaced flank speed, you're out of luck.
Me? Unless fate gives me a present and they're heading right for me, I don't bother trying to chase down small warships. |
I had the very same encounter a few hours ago. The two warships were sailing with 20 knots or more. Since they were travelling too fast for my boat i just watched them passing by...:shifty:

Well, its a 10000tons warship. Its not that bad, i think.

Probably you are right, wait until 9000 meters away ... go surface and flank speed. Then probably follow these guys from a great distance and find a way to go submerged. Together these two pussies are about 20 tons! :) Thanks! :yep: |

Then turn 45 degrees, surface, go flank speed, and plot an intercept course. Get ahead of them and sit and wait. |

Those two warships can easily blow me (an my crew) to the bottom. I am playing 100% realism and d.i.d. :wah: Until now I never could reach the Year 1941. |
My watch crew is unexperienced. :wah:
http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/003.jpg I needed to edit this image a little because it was quite dark. As you can see I used TC and it is 21.00 hours now. Sometimes going submerged to listening about the heading of the two warships. My crew did not see (I did!) one warship. Because of the limited speed (14 knots) it is not easy to find a good spot and wait for those two warships. My diesel engines are getting HOT! :arrgh!: To be continued ... |
I had a similar encounter this evening, on my way home from the North Channel, with only two eels left in fore tubes, in Octobrer 1939. I was south to Fãröer Islands when my lookouts reported warships. Submerged to PD since it was in broad daylight, then I made a run (NWN) to try anyway to intercept a task force with Southampton and another big thind that I couldn't identify. I gave un when they passed the 000 bearing, turned away and left some distance before surfacing to send a Fũhlungsmeldung (just for immersion...), which I had to give up as well since I had to dive immediately for a plane.
Quite frustrating indeed... Have yu finally got them? |
make them start zigzaging... they will slow alittle.

Depth under keel is 108 meters ... I am afraid that this will be difficult and maybe me and my crew will die? But I will try to survive! :arrgh!: |
The end of two Southampton warships.
The first torpedo did not do the job!
http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/004.jpg As you can see it is 01.22 hours. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/005.jpg Here it is 06.44 hours and finally I was able to sink the other Southampton with torpedo tube V. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/006.jpg Observation scope view, Shouthampton is sinking. :yep: http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/007.jpg The distance between the two Southampton warships, North East. http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/...logica/008.jpg Status report sent to BdU. Will they be happy? All images edited: brightness and contrast. They were quite dark. Thank you all for the advises ... :) ... and I agree with Tomfon: Quote:

Well done Herr Kaleun! :arrgh!:
