Starting a new career

I was wondering, when you start a new career from 1939. Do you start from august and do that one or two patrol without anything to do? I always start from 8 august because it feels like cheating if I'd start in september. Although, those patrols are pointless and I go them with full TC so I guess I could skip them, but I just can't :). So what do you, fellow kaleuns, do?

Qualify crew

I use this time as well a short patrols at times to qualify crew mwmbers, ie get needed qualified repair, sonar and gunner personnel, and if you use fatigue you need additional torp and engine qual.

Hope this helps

Keep on sinking em

Same as BR,I use the time to get the crew qualified and testing the boat,if you use SH3Cmdr and have 'randomised crush depth' ticked,it really helps to know how far down you can go without 'Popping' http://www.picpiggy.com/smile/scared/scared0010.gif

If you want to get the first one out of the way quickly, just start the first patrol and then click "Dock At XXXX" immediately. The use SH3 Commander to start the second one exactly when you want, i.e. August 19 (or 29).

I actually enjoy the Aug 39 patrol. No enemy destroyers, no enemy aircrafts. Just me, some gramophone records and open sea. :ahoy:
