WTF?!?

What are the use of the coordinates given in GWX? I mean... longitude and latitude? I can't see how I can use it...

GoldenRivet 07-11-09 09:07 PM

The allies didnt use grid squares... so... many of the "distress messages" you will receive are in lat long format.

any lat long message is for immersion only, and has no bearing on your mission... even if you did happen to find the lat long that corresponded with a grid square - there would be no activity there for you to find.

such messages in the mod are only there to increase the overall historical realism of the campaign... nothing more

just ignore them, there were rumblings in another thread about removing them as they serve to irritate rather than immerse, especially when one comes in every few minutes when you're using time compression. It wouldn't be so bad if they were contact reports but it's usually "torpodoed sinki-" or something equally useless on an open frequency.:damn:

Well, some of us look at it more as an historical excersise than as just a game to play. Your work is much appreciated by us old fuddy-duddy immersion freaks.:salute:

I keep to a fairly low TC and enjoy recieving news of the war's progress.

(For Sailor Steve)
Maybe someone needs to come up with another super-mod that converts SH3 into a super-speed-dash-around-the-oceans-and-blow-things-up "game" for all the arcade game players? (God forbid - I think I'd uninstall so as not to be associated). It could have a periscope view that beeped and flashed faster as you panned nearer to the (as yet) invisible target then go to solid tone to indicate the direction in which to head. A rollover counter at top right in livid green font could display the points-score so far and it could flash the entire screen at each 10,000 tons sunk whilst playing a fanfare and encouraging the player with a "WTG - new high score" message. Oh god, I'm not feeling well, where's my coffee? :har:

P.S. I like the current messages!

I quite like the radio improvements actually. At least it makes you feel like you're part of a collective out there, rather than just some rogue u-boat attempting to take on the royal navy empty single-handedly as in stock.

Much appreciated. :salute:

Thankfully no. I'm sure those existing pics have been hard enough on monitors everywhere anyway.:rotfl:

Speaking of coffee.... time for some more.

I got a message about a damage 40000 tonner passenger ship and to head to her destination and finish her off in AM 59 i think can't remember exactly. I was in BE 99 so race to her area at full speed once i got in the grid i then received a message from U 39 that the passenger has been sunk! I wasted alot of fuel for nothing! :damn:. I dont mind getting messages like this though as it does make you feel your part of it.
