CONNING TOWER NUMBER "not reversed" and MY FIRST SUB SKIN

USS Spadefish SS-411

This is my first Boat Skin. I do have other MODS out there if you were
to search the forum, you will find them.
When I was look at all the posts, I noticed no one included the ship number
on the hull do to the fact it would show up reversed on the other side.
Here are two screen shots.
One is the Right side of the Ship the other is the left side. I was able
to do it and can explain how later if you are interested. The only thing
was the place where I put the hull number in, 411 .. did not allow enough
room for the ships logo. There for that appears reversed.
Let me know what you think. It took me two days to figure out how to
place the numbers on the look out towers so they would not show up
reversed. The ship I used for this Balao mod is the:

Nice skin but why are you trying to turn your sub into a battleship?

pythos 07-08-09 07:54 PM

No kidding, I was wondering why the 4 cannons;)

runningdeer 07-08-09 07:57 PM

This has been a problem for me. Please instruct me on how to place the hull numbers correctly. I cannot for the life of me figure it out...tyvm :know:.

If you go to the site I posted below or look it up in google you will see that the Spade Fish was a Submarine during WWII it was decomisioned in 1946.

I will post a link for the sub and start another thread explaing how to put the numbers on so they do not show up reversed.

However, you will need to wait till Friday, one more day.

That would be great :D... Thank you.

P.S. I need to do numbers in solid white color.

I would bet its this MOD called "pimp my ride". The creator plays it for fun.

Hull numbers on most boats are left out because durring the war they were removed so most modder's leave them off.

Yes I am using the "pimp my ride mod" However, THIS is my skin and took me a long time to do it. His MOD had nothing to do with me figuring out the placing of the numbers and the numbers are on majority of the submarine pics out on the internet. So your statement above is not fully acurate! Thanks.

From the posts I have found on the forum, most modders did not include them because the numbers would appear on the towers in reverse. The only numbers they could use were 181 or 111. That is why I figured, I would take the time to figure it out cause I liked the idea.

Congrats on the great looking skin, but thats why I quoted the other post, to tell him how you got the 4 cannon arrangment, not to say you used his MOD to call youre own, sorry for youre confusion.

Kapt.Klaus...I think hull numbers, especially in white, look great on a boat. I have a sub skin that I've been working on. Added and adjusted the vent holes as well as mapping out the water line to have a red and or black bottom, like a submarine model would have. Just cuz I think it looks neat.

But had to put the skin on ice until I could find a way to apply numbering/decals correctly.

I'm hoping that the way you put numbers on is so that I can use white color if I need to. I can use black color on the occlusion files and make it look pretty sharp for a shadow, but cannot do images or white color, of course.

I got 3ds max from my brother, in order to figure out the numbering and use for other ways to make better boat skins. But after some time now I am still struggling with the 3d thing. Tutorial after tutorial. It just seems to have opened a whole nother can of worms, lol. But I have been learning and eventually I'll figure it all out & maybe even work with 3d modeling for our game, eventually.

So anyway, I'm excited to learn how to do this.
