New, Have a few stupid questions
 

I just got SH3 and have been playing around with it. But I have a few questions.


In this tutorial it says that:
Jiim's mapping tools are now INCLUDED in SHIII Patch version 1.3. If you have updated to that patch, there is no need to download his Mods. Just select the QUESTION MARK button when
in the Navigation Map to get to Jiim's Tools.



I am unable to get to the protractor that he is referencing when I hit the question mark nothing happens. I am pretty sure I have patch 1.4 installed, where can you tell for sure, I cant seem to find it.






Also when Im in a mission and I try and save in the middle I hit save and it asks for a name, I enter in some thing, but It will not let me exit in the middle of a mission. only if I return to base can I exit. Also when I go to load up my saved game, these custom names are not there only the system gen. before and after patrol saves, Where dose the game save these too and where can I load them from?






I am running SH3 Commander, Generic mod enabler, and SH3_Bearing_Overlay_3.0. But I tried all the above errors on vanilla as well and I'm having the same issue's.

anyhow not sure why you cant get the protractor. it looks like those geometry tools.... and it says protractor. click the question mark and the protractor it should do it no?

and for saving, when in a mission you can't just exit to menu, you got to save and exit... then you go back to career and load up that save. it will be listed as (in mission) or something like that, and it will warn you that loading from there will delete all saves made after that point.

Yea when I hit save and exit, it tells me to name the save, then it just takes me back to the menu, all I can do is continue mission, or return to port. the only way I can save in the middle of a mission is to alt tab out and kill the game task manager after I save.


I'm not sure about the tools, when I click the question mark noting happens.

save then return to port or exit... whichever takes you out of the ocean. then at the main menu you go to career, load up your career and your save should be listed in there, before the ones listed as in base

and for the tools, click the ? then the right tool

I'm running GWX 3 and it's been so long since I've run stock (probably 2005 or so) but for me, all you have to do on your nav map is to hit the question mark, and then click the "protractor" icon and you get a neat little protractor you can drag around.



That's what you do after saving, you return to base/abandon mission/etc. The screen will show your sunk tonnage and whatnot and say "mission failed - user exit" or something along those lines. But when you fire up SH3 again and load your game, you'll see your custom saved game (whatever you named it), and you can load that up and continue on from where you were at.
