Do it Gently
 

I just saw the third and last movie of the first season of a British crime series that I have become a real fan of, that is "George Gently". It is so very good to see a TV produc these days that is neither daily soap nor sitcom and where not every five minutes a house blows up, a car explodes or people get beaten up. It is set in a more rural place in Britain of the sixties. The characters are detailed and intense, the acting is excellent, the stories are calm, complex and dialogue-oriented. The title role is played by Martin Shaw, that many may remember from "CI5 The Professionals". He plays his character so very well that I forgot very soon to compare him to Ray Doyle, and anyhow, Shaw of course is much older here (with grey hair and a short cut :) )

I hope German TV brings the second season with four more movies soon.

If you don't know it but have a chance to see it: recommended! Just don't expect an action-spectacle.
