The Battery bug, and optimal settings
 
Hi all, this is my first post here on the forum. I've observed the following bug, which appears in SH4 v1.3 and v1.4, but not on the versions prior to v1.3. I don't know if it appears in v1.5.

The bug basically limits your submerged endurance to some 102 km at 2 knots, or 27.5 hours. Increasing the values in the submarine .sim files will only result in increased recharge times.

I've tried some settings, and came up with this, which seems to be the optimal setting.

Use the Silent 3ditor tool to edit the fleet submarines sim files, and give them submerged endurance of 115 miles at 2 knots. In game, it will translate to this:
9 kt - 3.7 hours, 33.6 km
7 kt - 4.2 hours, 37 km
5 kt - 7 hours, 57.3 km
4 kt - 10 hours, 75 km
3 kt - 17.5 hours, 93 km
2 kt - 27.5 hours, 102 km
1.5 kt - 51.5 hours, 138 km (need to ventilate)

These are the values which correspond to battery level drop to 10%

Time to fully recharge battery: 3.5 hours at 9 knots surfaced.

Welcome to Subsim!:up: Let me say that you are dead on with your findings. I can't recall if 1.5 still has this problem or not though. If I remember correctly the sharp drain in battery amperage kicks in when you dip below X kts while submerged, I think it's somewhere in the vicinity of 4kts. But your table looks good there!
