SH3 Commander Return to Duty

Hi guys,

My current career has seen me retire in 1941 to work for BdU. If I select to return to front line duties, can I select when to go back? Ideally i'd like to escape in a U-Boat at the end of the war.

i dont think so.

it just reactivates the career at the same date it was retired.

seems like it should add like a year. :hmmm:

I used to take the boat out for a one day cruise, a getting accustomed cruise if you like and set the days in port to the equivalent of 6 or 12 months (but only for that one period in port), then continue with the career.

now why didnt i think of that!?

good work Jimbo!

Great idea :yeah:

I'll just set the days spent in port to the number of days til the beginning of May 1945.
(Apologies if that sounds like i'm just repeating you, I sometimes have difficulty in comprehending instructions as i've said before on the forums. Don't mean to be at all patronising)

Here's an example:

Let us say it is January 1st 43.

Reactivate your career but before leaving port set the SH3 Commander number of days in port to 180.

Leave port and return the next day.....SH3 Commander will automatically set the date to 6 months + 1 day onward.

Now set the number of days in port to whatever you usually have, say 21 days.

When you leave on your patrol the date should be approximately 2nd July 43.

The difference being now, when you return to base you will only have 21 days (or whatever you changed the SH3 Commander figure to) in port.

If you need any further advice/help, don't hesitate to post, this is an extremely friendly and helpful community.

We will get you sorted. http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...s/thumbsup.gif

That's brilliant Jimbuna!

I've been staying away from realistic careers because of that problem.

Thanks for the cure of a dose of stupids!

Thanks Jim. I forwarded the date to July 1944, to simulate me being evacuated out of St Nazaire to Wilhelmshaven (even though I realise St Nazaire was only blockaded til the end of the war)

For some reason when I docked, SH3 Commander says I died, so I changed it to surrendered and bobs yer uncle... Arthur Berends survived the war!

:haha: Well my tonnage in the end was 117,983 GRT. Not sure on how well I did there...

Jimbuna 06-25-09 04:09 AM

You certainly achieved more than someone who managed to get 116,000 GRT :DL

Because no matter how hard we try we sometimes miss the obvious. This time was Jim's turn to show us how it's done. Next time maybe you'll be the one.

Me? Almost never.
