X-craft?

Hi all, just a quick one to ask, is it possible to make a playable X-craft sub? then a mission to destroy the tirpitz? Thanks in advance

Yes, it is possible. But it isn't easy.
First of all you need a 3d model and skins, then import these into S3D, edit the .sim, .zon, .val, .dsd and .cam files and finally edit the upc file.
With having a good 3d model and skins it would still take me something like 6-10 hours to finish it. And I've done things like this a dozen of times so I know how to do it and know what tiny mistakes will cause a CTD.
I don't want to discourage you if you want to make one, but it would definitely be smart to ask some advice. If you do you should be able to make one great x-craft:up:

I was more wondering if anyone could make one/has made one? I have no idea how to MOD anything, i find it hard enough to just find my way out of port!

its like asking the guy next door to build a garage for you

for something like that you will need to learn modding and you can do the mod yourself

you will have a lot of fun doing it and learn a lot

people at this sight are always ready to help you learn and teach you things.

Webster i have to say i am in awe of your modding skills, i use most of them already lol. Are there any videos on how to mod? like Modding for dummies? Or would some1 be able to get me on a voice com. and talk me through it one night?

there's this tread about making playable units that keltos has been desperately trying to get stickied;) (to no avail alas:cry:):

When I first started modding it was a huge help for me. If you follow the instructions you should be able to have a working clone of a sub in no-time. You then can go edit all the basic functions/looks of this sub until it looks as you want it to.

Also, if you decide to start modding the following tool (S3D) is a must-have:

If you make a 3d model and textures of the sub and ask me nicely I might even import it into SH4 for you. Takes me only about 2 hours nowadays.

FlakMonkey did a 3D Model of the X-Craft.
I still have a copy of it.

Am slowly learning Modding (very very slowly) but would be interested to see the model of the X-craft? See if i can play around with it

Madox58 06-26-09 07:54 PM

If Flak Monkey does not mind?
I'll post the File up.

I've reduced the faces and done the Normal and Occlusion maps also.
;)

with "X craft", do you mean the large type XB uboat like U- 234?

Would be great to have that one in the game!

sorry Kurfurst (sorry, cant remember how to add umlauts)
They mean the mini-submarines that the british used to lay mines under the Tirpitz

kurfürst 07-04-09 04:31 PM

Hi Sledgehammer,

thanks for the info! Didn´t know that the British also had a "type X" sub.

The version I have was run through a detriangulator,
then edited a bit to reduce the total faces.

However,
it's still not my model to release.

If Flakmonkey says it's OK?
I'll post up his original model.

It's quite a nice unit.

Flakmonkey has said it's OK to post the X-Craft up.
:yeah:

I'll get it up for you all ASAP.

This is the obj file, mtl, and texture.
Scaled to the SH world and as I found it.

It's Flakmonkeys work so credit it as such.
