Neutral ships should be running with lights.

Its 1940 and I have run across four American ships, in three groups, running with no lights at all.

First group had two and I sunk both of them before realizing/remembering that the US was neutral in 1940 (well historically "neutral" can be debated, but in the game they are neutral).

Second group had one American ship which I also sank and only saw the American flag when it was illuminated by the fires (Rocket's red glare).

Third group had one American ship but I was able to see dimly the American flag so I let it go.

All total, I lost almost 350 renown. :wah:

I always respect neutrality in the game. But running in a combat zone with no lights is not how a neutral is supposed to act.

It is so hard to see the flags at night.

I tried to convince unkle that these sinkings were caused by a British submarine trying to discredit the Kragsmarine, but I don't think he bought it.

Anyone else run into neutrals traveling dark?

Anyone else sink them like I did?

Try the Flags Enlighten mod. It helps a lot.

That is why I don't play using renoun.

I don't go out of my way sinking neutral ships but... it happens as in RL.

Fat Juicy neutral Lg Tankers are the worst temptation. :damn:

You are correct. On Sep 4th 1939:

Quote:

Maritime Commission (Hydrographic Office Special Warning No. 9) directs that all U.S. merchant ships en route to or from Europe are not to steer a zig zag course, are not to black out at night, and are to paint the U.S. flag on each side of the hull, on hatches fore and aft, and on sun decks of passenger vessels, and to illuminate the colors flying from the flagstaff at night. In Hydrographic Office Special Warning No. 12 (promulgated the same day), U.S. merchant vessels engaged in domestic, "near-by foreign" or transpacific trade are not required to paint the flag on hull, hatches and decks, but otherwise are to follow the other instructions contained in Special Warning No. 9.

All neutrals are dark in the stock game. First someone had to figure out how to make the lighted ships. Next someone had to create separate folders for all ships that were to be lit. Then they had to be assigned the correct dates.

GWX does this, but not for all ships. I suppose the thinking is that we can't make it too easy. Other than that I don't know.

I am afraid if they show no lights i need to see what they are and the easiest way is to set them on fire!

Hanomag 06-17-09 03:38 PM

Theres always a random chance that the crew forgot to turn them on. :nope:

If you use SH3Gen,you actually get and order telling you that neutral ships that are not lit are to be assumed as hostile, and are aloud to be sunk:hmmm:Can't remember the date:06:,but it is mentioned:arrgh!:

Wicked Popsicle 06-17-09 07:36 PM

Reguardless no lights they deserve a fish in thier hide

Doolar 06-17-09 08:02 PM

But SH3 Gen doesn't change the renown loss, does it? I hate it when BdU lies to me like that.:rotfl:

nikbear 06-18-09 12:07 PM

I know it doesn't SS,but I do:03:If I'm going to obey orders,I'm not taking a renown hit,not even for Donuts himself:03::yeah::rotfl:
