I´m back

Hi all skippers !!

I´m back from the docks!! I´ve been busy lately and I´ve re-install the DW world...

Just to let you know, I finally could get an internet connection, so i´m planning to be mp some time after getting use again to DW, bu t I can´t even remember when was my last post here.

I would appreciate if someone tells me what´s the current state on mp games...still sailing or people has left the game?.

Thanks,

Hi Trinidad,

I am back myself after a long pause (~2 years).

My impression is that the DW community pretty much dissolved...
Even the virtual navy i left 2 years ago, seems to play DW even less than back then.. (very little)

Luckily (for my taste) the MOD-frenzy seems to have cooled down as well.

That's my impression, in those last days surfing the forum again :yep:

A promising project I remember is the one of Dr. Sid, but no idea how far it has come :hmmm:

Anyway, Sonalyst doesnt give any signal of coming back in business. The last update on theyr DW page is from 2006...

I don't know of anyone working on modern naval simulators at the present.

Silent Hunter 5 was rumored to, maybe, focus on modern subs, but at the same time rumors said it would focus on WW1 or cold war, still too soon to know...

Take a peek over at the CADC, Dr.Sid has his own forum there for his ComSubSim (plus a Wiki ...) actual info can be found there.

Thats to bad for you, MODS are one of pc gaming main strong points.
Look at GWX for SH III. Its a mod and it improves radically that game.
Pc gaming is based on mods, Falcon 4 thrives on mods, SH IV also, and lets not go into other genres such as FPS, CRPG, RTS etc...

This is a fantastic time to be a DW enthusiast, contrary to some nay sayers, people still play this game. There are 2 mods that add SCX-SCU type capability to the game, one is Alfa Tau and the other is RA (reinforce alert). There is of course the ever green lwami, but since this mod doesn't enable new playable units it will go I think by the wayside as players embrace at least one of the other mods (and to be honest they are still based in part on lwami) so you get the best of both worlds.
Want to design a mission with a playable russian surface AWS screen ? Tough luck doing that in DW/DW lwami. You want to design Red Storm Rising or Hunt for Red Ocotober scenarios with playables as the Red October Typhoon ? Tough luck doing that in DW/DW lwami. You want to be the skipper of a Viriginia or Ohio ? Can't do that in DW/lwami. Play an Harushio diesel electric for missions in the taiwan strait againsy chinese forces ?
You want to remote control the frigate helo with dipping sonar and mad/sad sensor ?
Impossibile to do in DW/lwami or AT. No problem in RA.
Etc, etc, etc.... RA and AT 3 add so many new units that you are basically playing what would be a Dangerous Waters 2 if SCS had had the courage to continue developing this game.

I want to have the adrenaline burst when I know I am close to be outsmarted by my opponent. Sub Command 1.08 ? Unbeaten so far.

Bugs ? A real submarine has no bugs ? As soon as you can live with the bugs you start playing...

Now now, I suppose you're refering to sub command SCX/SCU.
Because default sub command 1.08 is nothing to talk about.

It depends if the bugs break the game. And then their is always the possiblity to IMPROVE the game even when the publisher/developer doesn't give a f**k about it.
