An issue of personal taste, allergic concerns - or basic security? Obama is the most threatened US president that comes to my mind.

I don't think so, if anything Mr. Bush was disliked by much more of the world.

Food 'tasters' go all the way back to King Henrys time. Why is this news?

I thought with modern technology and security measures we had thrown off this legacy which was the domain of kings.

I wonder if this was the meal where his children were at. If so, it may be more for the allergies and stuff.

From a protection point of view a food taster is rather worthless. There are many poisons and toxins that can kill you within hours/days that have no taste at all.

They say that he even is the most threatened and endangered US president of all time ;)

I appreciate your response Skybird but I don't believe it. The assumption you are making is that because he is black (half white by his mother) is that he is somehow at greater risk than other presidents. I cannot think of one president who wasn't killed by either been a liberal a communist or an anarchist. It isn't his race which makes him more or less suseptable to assasination....it his politics. Which they are markedly left makes him more safe than any other president.

You may want to negotiate your view with the Secret Service or the FBI. Repeatedly insiders from their side pointed out that Obama is at bigger risk than any other president before. I just refer to their assessements (additionallyto the media-reported outcry amongst racists and white supremacists that now a black is leading God's own white nation). There already have been one or two assassination plots reported in the media that were spoiled by the police, right?

So, nichts für ungut, but I do not pick this just out of the sky.
