Swine Flu Anyone?
A colleague came into work on Fri 29th May to enquire about some ongoing cases.
On Sunday I started experiencing flu like symptoms (sore throat, tight chest, runny nose, blocked nasal passages etc). I soldier on at work Monday and Tuesday taking Paracetamol and Sudafed to ease my condition. On Tuesday evening I advised my colleagues that I'd be taking Wednesday off as a lieu day to see if I could shake off my condition. Approximately an hour ago I receive a call on my Blackberry from a work colleague advising me that the colleague who visited on Friday had recently returned from a cruise to America and Mexico and was showing symptoms of a flu like illness. They were currently in quarantine like conditions at hospital undergoing tests for possible swine flu. Furthermore, some kind, considerate git had advised the authorities of the Friday visit and the fact I was off work trying to shake of suspiciously similar symptoms. :( My caller had been instructed to advise/order me that on the instructions of the Environmental Health Department I was to refrain from a planned return to work tomorow and await a home visit from a Doctor and District Nurse to take God only knows what samples from me. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...mileys/meh.gif In the meantime I am watching the World Twenty 20 Cricket Championships on Sky Sports and my wife and daughter are keeping a constant vigil on me for signs of the early growth of a curly tail. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...s/bigsmile.gif |
Take advantage of it while you can. Hope you're okay.

I'm sure you will be fine. I havnt met anyone or heard of anyone that i have known who has come down with the condition personally. |

Well, what the hell Jim? My daughter and myself are dealing with flu like symptons. My only git is we swam in a pool over the weekend that was just opened for the season....it was very cold....you know...shrival factor cold. Ummmmm, a coworker of yours who was just in New Mexico with symptoms is not good. Whatever the case, get those test done. Getting medical treatment early is probably best.
My wife just had my daughter to the doctors today. She did a strep test....negative results. We have no contact with anyone who has been to New Mexico, etc. Seems we just have the common cold. Works for me but still sucks. Get your tests! |
Ah the swine flu. It had become pretty quite about it in the past weeks. However let the doc examine you. Even if it should be the swine flu there is no reason to panic. Swine Flu doesn't seem to kill more people than a normal flu and it can be treated with normal anti flu medicine.

I'm sure it's just a false alarm and I'll be fine.
