GWX3GOLD - faint vertical black line observed down middle of screen

After a short period submerged we surfaced back into rough conditions, heavy grey rolling clouds, huge waves etc, when I noticed a faint thin vertical black line (more prominent against the lighter sky),like a smear down the centre of my screen.I cleaned the monitor but it was still there. This mark wasnt there before we submerged hours earlier, only when we surfaced again.
I immediately closed the game, and will load it up again soon, see if that cures it.

Does anyone have any info on this?

Thanks

A consequence of the drain on your systems resources....graphics card.

A reboot should sort it.

A drain on my graphics card? hmm, strange,I would have thought 256MB onboard memory would have been ample.I also increased virtual memory the other day to 3500MB,to cover myself for any lack of adequate memory in the game.

I take it this is not exclusive to GWX3?

Thanks for the tip jim.

It happens to one of my systems approximately every other day (especially if you've got other applications running in the background)....a rebot of the system usually sorts it.

No apps running jim, never do when gaming.
I cant seem to notice it much anyway now, especially at the moment,as it is night time and I swear to god its that dark I cant even see the face of my Watch Officer :o ,forcing me to submerge in case we collide into something. Is it meant to be THAT dark?

Oh yes.....but if you've a qualified watch officer up top and are not running at high tc, they should give you sufficient advance warning.

and it is generally only that dark on moonless cloudy nights in the game.

Before you started the game or if it comes to it During your game your computer may have downloaded some up dates or done a virus scan might of even preformed a system restore point update.
You are playing on a computer that also operates programs in the back ground.
Or have you turned off every single function that allows your machine to run smooth.
The Ram cannot always clear out information that was needed by some other program so you loose some of the ram space this also effects the virtual memory.
Sometime the only way to clear it is by restarting.
The next time your game freezes or CTD it might just be the machine up-dating its self that cause this …
The most annoying one is when it returns to the desk top and there is a message saying windows needs to restart to install new programs.:salute:

I dont have any automated tasks on my system, windows updates are set to manual in administrative services,no auto virus scanners etc, only when I say so.
I have streamlined the services in XP,as most of it is garbage, and I have just 13 processes running in Task Manager, again streamlined for gaming.
I think the streak is somehow linked to cloudy/rough days at sea. When it was clear and calm it wasnt there. And it is still there a bit after a reboot.
Well i'm off to bed now,and will have a check tomorrow after the PC has cooled down, that way I can tell if it has anything to do with overheating. And speaking of that I just ordered some Arctic Silver 5 silver paste for my CPU,so...will see if things improve with that.

Goodnight all :salute:

Did you change your mods with JSGME?
Maybe try to roll back SH3Cmdr?

16km atmosphere created a strange visual bug, pitch black sky, and rolling back fixed it.

Interesting Dekessey.

I do install mods using JSGME yes.
I also have 16k atmosphere enabled, but for the life of me cant imagine this being the problem,at least I hope not,the distance and horizon line looks fantastic this time.Yet I WILL disable it and see what that does.Interesting you mention pitch black sky,it was absolutely PITCH black, couldnt see my own hand to my face, could only just make out the dark clouds above.I expect this is normal though,as it is very cloudy.
This darkness also seems to pervade underwater conditions too, just below the surface it is jet black, and surface light is only JUST visible in daylight, and when near the surface.Again,I think this is normal.

I personally think the streak line is actually linked to some graphical draw problem when in rough seas, either caused by my particular graphics card (doubt it) or with GWX3 itself. The reason I come to this conclusion is because the line wasnt there when the conditions were clear and calm.

Its only a minor issue, and is hardly visible as I say, taking time to look around you all the time allows you to forget about such trivial things :yep:

Thanks.

Due to a conflict in the scene dat file....rolling back is indeed the trick
