SHIII+Win7 HEEEELP!!!!

Ok, so I decided to install SHIII and GWX3. All went fine at first, but after the install, when I start the game, after the 2 movies, all I get is black. The game loads and I can eventually hear the main menu music, but the screen remains black. It doesnt lock up as I can press esc+left+enter to quit the game.

Anyone know what could be causing this?

Ow, this isnt the same problem as with some codec packs, as I cant see the cursor nor I have any codec packs installed atm. Also, with or without the resolution fix, the outcome is the same. No mod compatibility issues either.

Did you try to delete/rename the intro movies?

Yes, I have SH3Cmdr set to skip the movies. But as I said, the black screen comes after them. Them movies work just fine.

Mittelwaechter 05-24-09 09:22 AM

But if you set SH3Cmdr to skip the movies why do they show?

Sorry mate - you'll have to wait for someone more W7 competent .
Meanwhile I'd try to reduce the hardware acceleration.

Dowly,
Try deleting the movies anyway, not just deactivating them.
I had to do this to get the game to load on my XP computer.
Also, you might try the Vista (32 or 64 bit) codex pack; I suspect you are missing a needed video codex.
The only thing that is certain is that microsoft won't help. :damn:

I use to have a similar issue. all I had to do was set the nvidia control panel to "let the 3d application decide for me."

worked for me.
