Damage taken - what do those icons represent?
Hi guys,
I was sailing peacefully through the seas, feeling somewhat dizzy, 'cause for no reason I could live 64 seconds in just one  Anyway from out of nowhere two misbehaving planes went down on me and one of them naughty boys dropped something ugly on my peace-loving boat. So for the very first time I could see some new icons but didn't know what they mean. Can anybody help me solve this mystery so I can with clear mind go back to joyful sailing? ;) Here's a screen: http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5228/damagel.th.jpg Strangely in my printed manual that came with the game there is nothing about it, for shame! :nope: |
The one on the left is the time to pump out the water and stabilise the situation, the one on the right is the time left till its terminal:dead: in that section

Thanks. :) |
so you can see... that if the number on the left is larger than the number on the right. your screwed ;)
|
Thanks! But just to be sure - terminal means section is out but boat lives or all hope is lost and I can start preparing for a fresh career?

Looking at your screen, the damage looks quite minimal and easy to deal with. The other day,I lost my sub to a huge DC barrage from a task force right over the top of me at barely 40m,I took a DC right on the conning tower and flooding was critical, about 16mins to stabilize.I had no chance, another one hit me and sent me to the bottom before I could assess the situation :nope: You really gotta be on the ball when the s##t hits the fan mate  |

how long then with the pump stopped can we remain in silent running? |

But suppose you want to go to silent running when the left figure is 25 minutes, and the right is 31 minutes? It'd be more relevant then. |
And when you have multiple sections damaged it gets very relevant, as you juggle your DC party to the most critical area's

Look on the bright side....with it being a game you always get a chance to learn from your mistakes :03:

p.s. D/L one of your grammophone files to try out mate. |
I survived that attack, no problem, I just attached repair team to the problem and they quickly solved the situation.
But I'll repeat my last question - if I don't pump the water, is my boat going to sink? Is it possible to just seal the damaged section and proceed without it? Was that possible in real life? I mean I've read about other ship types, not submarines, that when one part was flooded, they just closed the hatches and managed to stay on surface. Is it possible in the game? |
