Traveling with animals help
My friend lives in Boulder Colorado at the moment, she is planning on moving back to Miami Florida this summer. She has a 70lb 22 inch Labrador that she wants to bring with her. The only problem is she cant bring it on the airplane, because the dog might die in the cargo. She found a pet friendly airline, that lets the dog sit next to you, but it doesn't fly anywhere near Miami. Does anyone know of a cheap way to move a dog cross country? Cheap being under the 500 dollars that United Cargo wants.

Why would she think the dog might die in the cargo hold? Sure, there are some horror stories but by and large animals are transported without issue.
|
I have personally piloted aircraft carrying large and small breed dogs, cats, and other creatures (including 750 lbs of rattle snakes) in the cargo holds all over the nation with a 100% survival rate.
the dog should be ok ;) |
With the proper precautions, the pet should be ok in cargo. The problems are usually not in the aircraft, but on the ground.
|
When she talked to America Airlines, and Delta Airlines, they both said that the dog is at risk in the cargo holds. Mind you the average temperature for Miami right now is in the low 90's. She's probably coming in July when it'll be 95ish.

if the price is right i'll transport the dog in a private aircraft
|
Depends on who the price is right for. :haha:
|
Ohhhh.
about $1,800 to $2,200 one day delivery or $1,500 flat rate plus the cost of fuel used during the trip |
Spike her cheapest and safest option might be just to rent a car and drive herself and the dog down to Florida.
Boulder to Miami would be a pretty cool road trip... |

@August, I was thinking of that, but was unsure if a rental company would let her rent a car. |

I think she really only has clothes. The majority of the furniture was bought with her boyfriends mom's credit card. He's not going to help her leave, since she is leaving him. Originally she found a fairly cheap airline that would let her take her dog in cabin, but it goes to Washington DC. She wanted my girlfriend and I to go pick her up from DC, but my girlfriend doens't want to take the time off from work.

Road trip it:up:
