'We were going to crash,'

I've never seen icing conditions. I've never deiced... I've never experienced any of that. I don't want to have to experience that and make those kinds of calls. You know I'd have freaked out. I'd have like seen this much ice and thought, `Oh my gosh, we were going to crash,' " she says eerily, just minutes before the plane in fact did crash. "I would've been fine," Renslow replied. "I would have survived it. There wasn't, we never had to make decisions that I wouldn't have been able to make but ... now I'm more comfortable."
It's scary to think there are pilots who are not confident flying under the conditions they find themselves. :o

Never been the Pilot in Command in ice myself...in fact I avoided it like the plague.

And yea, it's hard but you gotta stay focused on the flying...a moment's slip and it's all over...

Based on what? The Dash 8 is a very capable airplane in icing conditions...

I think an air crash investigator summed it up "The ice will get you"

there has been quite a few failures with the landing gear on the Dash 8 type
where the landing gear would mess up
