The train has a 'plough' so depending on speed it might just chuck the three of them aside with possibly very little injury to any of them. Actually it might just stun the tiger and the snake so the guy could escape.

Yeah and they weren't to preserve the cow, they were to toss the broken body to one side instead of letting it go under the wheels and maybe cause a derailment.
