Black screen with GWX 3.0
 

Hello,

I've been running GWX 3.0 for about two weeks with no problems whatsoever. Now, when starting it, after the logo intro and the movie play, the screen goes black. What could I have done to have caused this to happen? I'm anxious to play again! Help!

my recommendation would be to disable all of the GWX optional mods through JSGME, then run the game and see if it works.

if it works... activate ONE mod through JSGME and run it again...

if it works... activate ONE OTHER mod and run it again

repeat until it fails to work - then you have isolated the MOD which is causing problems.

Thanks for the advice. However, no mods were ever enabled.

I have a stock version running too. It works fine. Could there be a conflict with that version or some other settings?

Since you have activated no mods, and presumably have not changed your computer or settings, I suspect one of the hundred of thousands of files has become corrupted.
If so, the only answer in to reinstall, but save your SH3 folder for saved games; rename it before the reinstall and then name it back to SH3.
After you reinstall, burn the SHIII folder to a DVD, which makes a reinstall a snap, as you just need to copy it back.
