First lady Michelle Obama called her "current life" in the White House "a very blessed situation, because I have what most families don't have -- tons of support all around, not just my mother, but staff and administration. I have a chief of staff and a personal assistant, and everyone needs that."
"Everyone should have a chief of staff and a set of personal assistants," Obama said with a laugh as she spoke before a crowd of business executives meeting today during a "Corporate Voices for Working

I want one too, oh wait I would have to pay for it :06:

Well no. The rest of us do not hold a position in the Executive Office of the President nor do we have a Public Law authorizing a staff.

It goes with the position. :)

I don't have $500.00 tennis shoes either:88)

I just wish someone would pay $250k on my wardrobe...

I perfectly understand that she needs a support staff. She is after all a busy lady. I am sure her comment was in jest

I hear her mom is enjoying her stay as well. :yeah:

The steak dinner partys are fine with me also.

It's just that all these things are stacking up giving the impression that whole lot of partying is going on.

AVGWarhawk 05-08-09 06:46 PM

I would not say a whole lot of partying is going on. The White House is the peoples house and they have opened it up to enjoy. However, I have not received my invite. I'm sure it is forthcoming. :hmmm: What I find interesting is they do go out on the town. That I have not seen, well, ever to be honest. In all reality I think they are genuinely regular people just with some strange ideas on how to run things.

I have a Chief of Staff. She's called my Wife.

The cats are our support staff. Now granted they can only keep the rodent population down and provide comedy relief but I have high hopes for the addition of a dog soon. My empire grows!

Actually, I was making fun of your typical liberal when asked about their hero, Barack.

Actually, this thread tends to make fun of the typical conservative, without even trying. Go figure....:|\\

I think he's referring to percieved overreaction to this event, even when in jest. M.O. most likely intended her statement to be a compliment to her staff, and/or a joke. Obviously, she is not so naive as to think that everyone can obtain a staff. Nobody is that stupid.

Of course, I am just guessing because Enigma rarely makes any kind of clear point. Evidently conservatives are so far beneath him that their opinions do not warrant his consideration or comment. It's a pity that the rest of us are too biased or ignorant to understand his opinions, otherwise he might take the time.

What I think he fails to understand is the objection to government officials(especially democratic ones, being "for the people" and all) being treated like royalty. But I really wouldn't know. All I have to go on is his occasional one-liners, and one post where he responded with an actual opinion because I accused him of the same thing he is doing now.

Enigma, if you want to make succinct arguments, can't they be more like this? This argument actually has a point besides simply assuming that conservatives are stupid. A beneficial discussion could be built on it.
I've yet to meet the person who questioned their own judgements because someone called them an idiot.

AVGWarhawk 05-08-09 09:33 PM

I understand she was joking and making light of it. Just wondering what Enigma is saying or is it just an enigma? :hmmm:

Like I said, I think he's percieving an overreaction. He thinks that you're not joking. But once again, that's just a guess.
