SOUND.ACT problem
 
hello great community
a question for the (sound)modding guys
WHAT IS THIS FILE AND WHAT DOES IT?
i had a CTD:yawn: after enabling the Das Boot Sound Mod in sh3 with GWX 3.0 Gold
(mod worked perfect by the way beautiful immersion and realism added)

It's dynamic library (as *.dll) executable code ...
and ... it is not used in GWX 3.0 ...

It is used by SHIII, however. I would suggest you leave this alone. If you want, rename it but keep it in the program. If, then, things don't work well, name it back to the original, and no harm is done.
I suspect that the game won't load unless it is active.

fresh install and redownloading the mod

No!...
You should not search for the reason of your problems in the root folder of game (SilentHunterIII) ...
This folder is for executable files (*.exe, *.dll, *.act) of game.
These files (in the root folder) do not change in GWX 3.0 ...
