Question about particlegenerators

Could anyone tell me which node inside the materials.dat I must edit to be able to affect the smoke that pours out when ship's on fire? Under the smoke_volum2, there's 4 different nodes is it one of those?

Dowly,
Get rid of that sig and you won't have to worry about too much smoke!!!:haha::haha:

Cīmon ppl! I know some of you know the answer to this one. ;)

Hi!

Have a look into the particles.dat file and look at fire big -> smoke and fire small -> smoke. There have a look at the particle generators and look at the used material. Copy the ID and search in the material. dat file.
The search results are the images used for the smokes.

Thatīs it ;)

Han

Ow bollocks... didnt remember there was particles.dat too. :damn:

Thanks! :yeah:

Ow and I wasnt looking for the image files, but the settings to change if I want, for example, have the smoke particles 'live' longer. But the particles.dat I believe is the answer.

Yes, itīs the particles.dat file.
Have a look into the particle generator and look at the particles 0;1;2.
They have all the same settings.. you have to adjust life, weight and maybe velocity.

Aye, I did some tests and I think I figured it out now. Thanks. :yeah:

Ok, one more question, or more like confirmation. Am I right to assume, that the smoke particle can be 'animated' (dont know what it's called), like the fire and DC explosion particles? You know, use some of the same settings from DC explosion on the smoke particles and make sure the image is as it should yadda yaa.

Yes.
:salute:

Playing with the different settings will teach you all you need.
And you may learn something that makes you go Hmmm.
Then you'll start playing with more and more stuff.
Then we'll see
[REL] Dowly's (Insert Mod name here) for SH3!

Before we can drink a cold beer!
:yeah:

Thanks Privateer! :yeah:

The settings seem to be pretty close to the one's in IL2, just named abit differently. Need to start trying them and see what I can come with. :salute:

Ow and there's definitely will be a mod if I can achieve what I'm planning (should be doable).
