Boom! John Madden retires
I'll miss the big guy.

But he isn't out of the news yet. :shifty: |
Yeah....Madden is one of those rare broadcasting giants like Johnny Carson or Howard Cosell. You can't replace them...you just wait until the next one comes along.
Wonder if he'll sell that rig he used for cross-country travel? :hmm2: |
Does it scare you that a guy I remember being called "the NFL's youngest coach" at one time... is 73? :timeout:
I was watching him when he was coaching... I was a kid, but still. That freaks me out, seeing guys like John Elway, whom I saw come in as a rookie, now he's an old guy retired and in the HOF for years :wah: |

He's the "Best of the Best" You're right Neal, we watched him as the Raiders coach who brought a bunch of misfits together and made them Champs. Hey I got Oakland cops that tell me the stories that John was out drinking with the guys before the game......My Hero....:salute::salute:

"Hey here's a guy who when he puts his contacts in he can see better!"
I'll miss him. I dont get to hear him much in the UK, but he really does make the game interesting. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9DIW...eature=related |
I'll never forget how he recommended that with 45 seconds left on the clock and three time outs that Brady take a knee and try to win the 2001 Superbowl in overtime. :D

Madden is to football what, Tommy Lasorda was to baseball.
|
Something tells me that he is going to continue to sell his name to the EA sports game franchise. He is one of the most recognizable people from NFL football. Who can ever forget the Tur-Duck-en meal on Thanksgiving Day, and the Turkey Leg award.
