Question - TBT/UZO View

I am using the outstanding TMO mod. While I appreciate that there is a difference between the day and night scopes I'd like to remove the light opaque mask and the smudges. Is there an easy way to use the TMO periscope view in the day scope but to delete the smudges?

There are ways if you understand a bit how the game works and how to mod it, meaning there are no EASY ways, but yes it can be done.

Alternatives:

1) Open in any decent graphic edition program the periscope and make the mask in the alpha channel more transparent

2) Pick a mod like CaptainCox's, Mav87th's or OakGroove's periscopes and replace the periscope graphic in TMO with that one.

Hope that helps :hmmm:

Thanks for the help! After doing a little digging around I located the file and deleted the opaque filter.

Where did you find this folder/file, and what did you delete? I would like to do the same thing.

/Data/Menu/Skins/American/Gui/Layout/Periscope_Mask_1024.dds

I used Paint.NET to edit the file. Also it's not a mask as the .dds is a flattened image so you have to fiddle around with the eraser and the magic wand. If you do it right you'll be able to grab the "opaque mask" in one go and delete everything.

Or, if you are using the latest TMO/RSDC with SH1.5 and you are all patched up you can just grab it here.

The original periscope.dds came from the above directory after installing these mods.

1. REL_TriggerMaru_Overhaul_1.7
2. Hotfix 4/17 Radar Fix
3. Binoc fix (CaptScurvy)
4. Optional mod - RSRD By Lurker_hlb3.
5. RSRDC_TMOv163_v410
6. RSRDC_V410_Patch 2B

I don't know who created the original .dds file but the credit for updating the stock image is theirs.
