Model swap?

Hey, I have been playing DW for a while now, but just recently got interested in the modding aspect.

I like the Alfa mod but hate the models. especially for the newly playable russian boats.

How can I take a decent model, like the typhoon from LWAMI and import it into the ALFA to replace the one I dont like? I am not goi to broadcast this as I am only looking to improve my own gameplay.

I am completely new at this, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use the models import/export tool, you can find it along with instructions at Bill Nichols' web: www.subguru.com

IIRC all models are in Dangerous Waters/Graphics--->3D.grp

You'll need to take the LW&A graphics files (.bmps and .j3ds) and load them into the DW graphics files (.grp and .ndx).
1. to do this load the .bmps and .j3ds files that you want to add into the graphics dangerous waters/graphics folder.
2. download the cmpUtil.exe program (you can find it in most of the mod graphics folders
3. create a .bat file to tell cmpUtil.exe to add your .bmps and .j3ds to the DW files. You can use a .txt file and then rename it to .bat afterwards. Your file should look like this for example
Code:

cmpUtil 3d exocetlunc.j3d
cmpUtil 3d alfa.bmp
cmpUtil 3d alfa.j3d
cmpUtil 3d cool_sub.bmp
cmpUtil 3d cool_sub.j3d

4. Run your .bat file
5. Run DWEdit
6. In the 3DObject Dialog box reference the sub model to the ones you just loaded.
7. Be sure to press "Save" in the main menu
8. Load DW and enjoy.

:)
