Looking for plans HMS Erebus / HMS Terror
Hi
thought I would give it a try at making something, so my first try will be the HMS Erebus. I have a handfil of photos, but no plans, might anyone have something on these two old monitors? thank you |
What about Roberts? I can place draw on it ship.

Erebus in her original rig, 1917 or so, pre-bulges. Note the paravane mount at the bottom of the stem. Her WWII appearance was quite different, but this gives you the general idea.
http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/952...917monitor.gif HMS Roberts was a different, much later class of monitor with a modern tower-style superstructure similar to KGV and refitted British capital ships. Hope this helps. |

Thank you all

Construction is well underway on HMS Roberts, then I will , If it works (fingers crossed) make other monitors. I may require outside help as this is my first attempt. Problem I know I am facing are adding other nodes tot he model to add 3 more anti aircraft guns. I may just make them part of the model and not operational as the other 4 will work fine. |
There you go, mate, Tater has given you the setup I was referring to, good man. Interesting to compare secondary armament fits and see how the threat changed from torpedo boats in 1917 to aircraft in 1943.
Also intriguing to note that monitors survived in the RN 'til the mid-60s, even as gunnery training ships. A much better proposition than this silly battleship reactivation that Iowa fanatics keep banging on about. |
Ah, I thought you meant the other Erebus and Terror. :)
They would be interesting additions to SHIII drifting randomly around Labrador. :) |
