Independent Engine Control

When making their way to the Americas, IX and VII U-boats frequently operated on one engine in the interests of fuel economy.

Does anyone know if there is a mod available which enables engines to be controlled independently?

so far i dont think this has been accomplished

You can run in "re-charging" mode. this allows one engine for movement and one to charge batteries, mind you I don't know if it will shut off when batteries are fully charged. I have not seen a mod for this in the download section, I know there is a fuel economy mod to help with fuel consumption over long distances.

Hi Shantyman :DL This is something we've always wanted but can't iirc be done because of the way the sim is put together.

I'd also like to control the engines separtely for tactical and manuvering reasons.

The economy mode is you go slow. :DL Someone posted the most economical speed here somewhere. I think 8-10 knots.

Weather is a factor too.

I tried clicking the charge button when the batteries are fully charge and it goes back to both engines.

Ok, that is what I thought. I tend to keep my surface speed to 10knots, never knew it was the most economical.

Good to know

7knots.
Its the less fuel consuming speed for a VII boat.
I dont remember the equivalent speed for the floating mountains but
dont think that you would have a fuel problem in one of those.

The indipendent engine control was initially thought to be put into the game by Ubisoft team.. but it was never implemented... If you go in a .dat file (I don't remember which one!) there are some nodes about indipenent engines controllers... but who knows how they work?
