Silent Hunter on a Big screen TV
There are games I play on a big scree TV and it works fine for PS3. I thought how cool the graphics would look if I could do this with SH4. Has anyone tried this, or know of anyone...? I think a PC can be connected to a TV.

Sure is possible. Easiest way is to use s-video cable to connect the 2. Make sure both videocard and tv have s-video port before buying a cable. :88)
Note that s-video is not considered appropriate for HD video signals, due to limited bandwith (my old TV only has 1024x768 res, no problem there). Also, s-video does not carry audio, only video. |
I have mine hooked up to my 52 inch samsung, witch is my primary display now anyways, and it works like a dream. It was probaly a bad idea in the long run because ill never go back to the little computer screens, my previous one was a 23inch apple widescreen monitor, be near imposible to go back now. Also with this tv my samsung it has the 120hz drive in it with the automotion plus witch if u havent seen before trust me it makes sh4 and all other games uber more realistic and cooler looking, just my two cents, :salute:

And here I thought I was doing good playing and watching movies on an old 19" CRT.:rotfl:

RCJ pics would be nice. I've tried the same thing with my PC and its 3870HD but no joy. Wouldn't mind playing SH4 and all my other games on a 52 inch plasma.

My wife said no to the 52 inch in the living room, so I settled for a 42 inch Vizio HDMI/HDTV I had in my den. I play SHIV plus other sims on it. Puts

I was stunned by the graphics while playing a game called far cry2 on a 37" with HDMI. Dang if it does not look totally real....So I will save my pennies and maybe get a bigger TV for SH4. Gotta do it....Thanks for tips gents!:salute:

Hmmmmm... this sounds most interesting! What a great idea!
So help me here - do I need a TV card in the PC or what? I read in this thread an s-video cable won't carry the audio... so what is best? |
As long as your tv is a HD tv, ie hookup via Hdmi, use that, not all graphics cards have a Hdmi out, but have the dvi out. 1. So in this case the tv comes with dvi or vga hookups, it all really depends on your tv, from what i know the dvi and hdmi methods will produce the best results.
For me with my 52 inch samsung i have a good dvi cable hooked up from my graphics card the nvidia 260 to the back of my tv as it has every connection known to man pretty much. Jonesy |

I did some checking around locally and it's the thing now.
You can buy a 30" to 40" LCD tv cheaper than a same size monitor. And works great for computer gameing. I don't know about other computer uses. Probably take Porn surfing to another level. :har: |
I bought a DVI to HDMI cable for about $30.00. I works great. I can have both monitors on at the same time or just one. SH4 looks really good.

Every six months ago I think about this but then I'm always put off by a combination of price, cable run, and ability to easily toggle from the PC monitor to the HDTV. HDMI cable can easily exceed $100 US, and I need at least 15 feet of run, and probably 20. There's DVI too but I haven't looked into that. I'm sure my rig and radeon can handle it but I guess I'm too lazy/intimidated.
