Kiel harbor and start at sea
 

If i use start at sea with SH3 Commander and my harbor is Kiel, where will this put me? I am asking cause Kiel harbor is bad for my fps but i want to be based in Brest later in the war for a change. So i wanted to know if i'll start the mission directly outside the canal or not.

With SH3CMDR the start is outside the harbor. If you do this, you cannot use the auto pilot to get through the canal, although this would be fairly easy to program.
To speed up loading, do not use the combined campaign mod.
If possible, add some RAM as it is very cheap.

You could also try the Lite harbour mod that comes with GWX http://www.psionguild.org/forums/ima...ies/pirate.gif

Thanks for the replies. I already have lite harbor traffic :oops:
But i don't mind the loading time so much, it is well worth it in the end and i am reading as i play SHIII, Hitler's U-Boat War the Hunter at the moment, so i just read a few pages while it is loading, it gets me in the mood. I just asked because i was feeling lazy and thought it'd be quicker to ask here.

Start outside harbor at Kiel puts you outside Kiel, as said. It means you have to go back into the harbor to use the Canal, or go all the way around Denmark.

Would have been nice if it started you at the mouth of the Elbe, south of Helgoland. That way you would actually be where you need to be.

I think the problem with returning to the harbour would be that the outward journey should be activated whilst in the pen or the dock :hmmm:

Apparently you can change the start at see position with SHIII commander by entering new coordinates. So in theory i should be able to start at the exit of the canal, but the problem is that i have no clue how to find the coordinates and what file to modify to do that.:88)

When i first tried the "start at sea" option it dumped me on the equator just off africa's west coast. Not an ideal position since my patrol grid was up near norway :nope:

That's a known bug when the game is confused by a campaign file conflict, and not related to the start-at-sea mod. It probably has to do with some mod incompatibility.

Maybe so; today's paper is advertising 4GB of DDR2 1066 Hz RAM for $39.00.
