Summary
Leutnant z. S. Fritz Gebhardt and U-22 were lost sometime on 03APR40.

U22 was lost in Grid AN55 while stalking a merchant sonar contact. It is believed that she had hit a mine.

We ran into a 10,000 tonner on two separate patrols. Knowing this was kind of rare for us I put three fish in the water each time to make sure of those kills.

On one of them (and this is the first time I saw this) two of the fish detonated magnetically and actually broke the ship's back. She went down with both the bow and the stern sticking up. I'd heard of this being possible in SH3, but this was my first experience with it.

Only happened to me once in GWX3. It was amazing. She was gone befor I could surface and finish her off.

Yes, she went down very fast. If I remember correctly it was less than three minutes. SH Commander also listed 59 crew with 49 of them perished. No time to get up top and into the life boats I guess.

War is hell. I have also ran into jimbuna's Q boat and got the hell knocked out of me so no symp for merchants.
