Why not Pock-i-stAn? Or AfghAn-i-stOn?
Just a tiny pet peeve of mine (hardly matters, of course, compared to the meltdown of world-civilization), but I really do have to wonder why "The Anointed One" can't at least be consistent when reading from his teleprompter?
With him, it's always "Pock-i-ston"....but "Afghan-i-stan." Even if both are used in the same sentence*. I'm sure it couldn't be because, as a young Indonesian citizen he actually spent time in Pock-i-ston...living among the Pock-i-ston-ees. But never visited Afghanistan. Nah...couldn't be because of that.... ------- [* There is amusement to be had, btw, in watching members of the left-wing US media try to cover his a** with their own, suddenly variable pronunciations of these same two words. :D Charlie Rose, for instance. He's now pronouncing them "AfghAn-i-stAn" and "PAk-i-stOn." Also often in the same sentence.] CS |
