'State secrets' an issue for new administration

Quote:

Like its predecessor, Obama's Justice Department is claiming privilege

Civil liberties advocates are accusing the new administration of adopting the same arguments that its predecessor did to cloak intelligence-gathering programs of the Bush White House.

Nice. All this change we were supposed to get, yet we get more of the same. All the promises that are broken. The approval ratings are quickly catching Bush, and for good reason.

So what you're saying Subman is that the President should jeopardize intelligence operations and assets, many of them human assets, just to demonstrate some sort of change?

I believe he's alluding that this is but one of the many reasons Lib Dems, who hated Bush with a red hot passion and considered Bush a "secret" and "corrupt" President, used as a pretext to their viciousness. They complained loudly about Bush for any secrecy from his administration, and now that Obama is doing the same you can hear the crickets from the same people. If I'm reading this right, this is outlining the glaring hypocrisy from the Bush haters being exhibited. I think Subman is poking fun at libs.

Well, that's happening for many other reasons. Mostly due to the fact that Obama seems to be in over his head. In his first 2 months, he's managed to do alot of damage. And there seems to be no end in sight to the incompetent approaches to everything.

So he's lambasting the Obama administration for not allowing the disclosure of classified information in open court, information that could quite possibly expose an agents identity to our enemies just to get back at the Democrats for objecting to the previous administration justifications for warrantless wiretapping?

That old saying about cutting off ones nose to spite ones face comes to mind...

I'm not sure. Subman would have to answer his own question. I was just guessing. Like I said, he's probably wondering where the Bush hating activists are in their scorn over this. They poured out plenty at Bush for government secrecy, threatening subpoena's and all. But now they are dead silent. Well, other than these particular civil liberties advocates they speak of. But when I read this article today, this is one of the things I thought about. I truly don't know what the motive is here. Like I said, only a guess. :06:
