Motherboard and Graphics
okay, as most of the techies know, i have an ATI HD2400 256 (nasty, slower than a newborns train of thought)
and I am planning on upgrading to a Asus ATI HD3650 512 VRAM but before i tell any more, I must tell a story. before december, my Pc was running awfully slow and some things werent working (dont ask what, i forgot) so i sent it out to my mother in CT (living in illinois) to repair and upgrade. it took a week to get there (an act of god i says) and she plugs it in... *pop* and my Power supply exploded...then, welded itself to the MoBo fun huh? so, now I am biting my nails to the bone, wondering if the power surge is causing some games not to work. for instance Steel Fury, BSOD's with a 0xc0000008E error code, it used to be random, but now its right after the game starts actually PLAYING Assassin's creed, starts (shows a little title block, then it goes away), but then crashes to desktop with this error message in manage/services/application The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 6. the game installed fine, i dunno why this happens. my video card for now is up to snuff, and i installed the patch those are the main two, the other games I played before hand, including work fine, so there must be something wrong elsewhere? |
