my wish list
 
ok i'm a newbie so plz be gentle :P

after playing SH4 for awhile i have a few "wishes"

first and foremost either a removal of the officer limit or as was suggested by another poster transfers.

second this is something i remember from a previous SH game
which is unlimited torpedos..would make convoy attacks more "fun"

also from a previous SH game basically a "god" mode

and my final "wish" ability to have stern and bow mounted deck guns with unlimited ammo

you will get that in a balao early 1945 a dual 5'25 deckgun or you can change some files to enable it for earlier period.. dunno really which specific files to change

i have another
i wish that my time compression NOT stop for every RA contact

and one more
i wish i had a button or some other way to do as i did in a previous SH
game; when i was ready and having no enemies around hit a button and AUTOMATICALLY returned to base

that is all for now

You can have bow and stern very easy for subs set up like this in the subs.upc file

If you look in Upgradepacks.upc you will see this:

FunctionalType= UpFTypeWeaponCannon
UpgradePackSlotType= USDeckGunAdv .....make sure it will accept this type

UnitUpgradePackIntervalOptionCurrent= NULL, NULL, 0
UnitUpgradePackIntervalOptions1= 1945-01-01, NULL, 2000
IDLinkUpgradePackElements= 5in25calUS, 5in25calUS

Options1 is set up for "Startdate,Enddate,cost"
Elements is set to "bowdeckgun,sterndeckgun"

So if it says "NULL, 4in50calUS" it is a sterndeckgun.
If it is a bowdeckgun it would say "4in50calUS, NULL"
If you want both you can change it to "4in50calUS,4in50calUS"

Or the best way is to add a new entry with a new ID to link to, like the Upack5in25calDGDouble. For example Upack4in50calDGDouble and use that ID in the submarine.upc file.

You could even have different guns on the front and back of the sub.

As for the dates, there is a date in Upgradepacks.upc for the upgrade but in Weapons.upc there is are dates the weapon is available. So the double deckgun and the individual deckgun are not necessarily available at the same time. Of course if you set up your own, then it is up to you.

No, disrespect ment here, but by taking out all the close to real llife limits, I think you are taking away the "fun". The fun of a sim of any nature is to emmorse yourself into the cyber world it offers. Those limits make you think of the tactical and startigical situation you are in. Makes you remember to not only attack but to defend your boat by using appropiate approuch tactics. etc etc etc

i've dl'd the silent fire mod and got the dual guns i wanted
would still like o find some way to keep time compression going when i get an RA contact (don't mind it stopping for enemies but hate when it stops for friendly contacts)

and would still love a way to get back to base quickly(w/o time compression)

BTW the silent fire mod makes it feel like a submersible frigate
