Manual TDC in SH1
High I just reinstalled SH1 on my computer after ages of negligence. But as a started my first scenario I could not find the mast heights of different ships in the recognition manual! Do anyone now where I can get them (all the old webpages are gone by now=)

Not all of them it appears:
http://www.valoratsea.com/range.htm I once made a slideruler to calculate range based on these markings and had the mastheights of the different shiptypes allready incorporated. I'll see if I can find it again on the internet otherwise I'll upload it somewhere. That is, if I can't find it on my harddrives aswel. EDIT: found a link to download it. It's the part of the "Kim Ronhof's Manual Tools With Guide". You need a certain CAD program (Deltacad: http://www.deltacad.com/demo.html) to print them out. Has alot of other SH1 stuff too: http://www.subsowespac.org/silent_hunter_mods.shtml |
Hi I just installed SH1 on my xp computer using Dosbox.
Works great but it will not run without the CD in the drive. Anybody else have this problem? I also have AOD, SH 2, SH3, and SH4. SH 2 is good and I liked it but it will not run with my nVida card and I do not like the other three so I am back to the good one, SH1. I may have to set up another computer to play SH 2, I do not know yet but for now I will stay with SH1. |

That said, did you do a full install? Maybe it is searching for the missing bigger video or brand animations (.smk files iirc, to /Bud) on the CD. Just copy those over to the appropriate folder on the drive. But maybe you also need to edit a config-file to change the path to these files. As it could be pointing to the CDrom drive. Just checked on an old pc with SH1 still on it: shpath.ini |
Thanks for the welcome.
That said the problem was on a full install the file BUD did not load on the HD. Copied it over and changed the BUD path in "SHPATH.INI" and now I do not need the CD in the drive. |
