Just like crash and burn on my bicycle

Today my very first hard drive fizzled hard......:-? I never had a hard drive go completely kaput. I booted up my work computer and was sailing along for about 45 minutes then click....black screen and no worky:cry: Tried to boot, no dice. Sorry, we do not detect C: drive:o Attempted to boot off the disc. No dice. Attempted to run a CHKDISC....check what disc it asked? Roll me on the beach and call me sandy....toasted:down: So, off to Orific Depot for a new hard drive. Format the drive, load Windows add the billions of updates and add my companies own programs. Just a matter of 6 hours farting around with this. I'm still not done:down: Man, when a hard drive dies hard....it sucks.

Now you know why so many here love imaging programs. With a valid "base" image, you reduce the build time by half at least - often to a mere fraction. Of course - once you get a pc built and all the apps and everything updated, then all the games on it - the "image" would be huge. So often just a base OS with full updates and the "always installed" apps and games is what to use.

That's a total bummer, I've been there a couple of times and know what your going through,:wah: even after a few days you never get back some of the stuff you had on, all you can do is put the essentials on then add the other bits a little each day!!
Then I discovered Ghost and will never part with it, every so often I backup my HDD image (about 30mns) it's automated so no need to attend, if your drive dies just put the new one in, doesn't matter the size, will return it to the last image, formatted, partitioned etc, all restored in 30mns!:yeah:
Edit: Posted same time CaptainHaplo, you said the key word "image"!:yeah:

My boss is kick arse! Treats me like family. Would not trade him for the world. Hell, Christmas shop, spend my time at Subsim kind of like right now :D. But, when the you know what hits the fan, be ready. That is all he asks. When I mean you know what hitting the fan I'm talking about transportation for FEMA in emergencys. I also run AA&E (ammunition, arms and explosives) amongst other things for the government. Shhhhhhhh........
