Foggy binoculars

Hi Skippers.

Ever since I've installed SH4 with the 1.4 patch (total clean install), I have a problem with the binoculars while I'm facing forward. It also happens with the TBT. It's cloudy (sea spray?) to the point where I can't see anything in the binoc's/TBT except a kind of foggy condition. Doesn't happen with just plain SH4, only when I apply the 1.4 patch. This occurence is especially troublesome in the Porpoise class sub.

Anybody else see anything like this?

If so, is there anyway to alleviate this annoyance? (1.5 Uboat addon patch maybe?)

- Game runs fine, but this kind of ruins my time searching for contacts from the bridge view.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

OK. I solved my own problem. Just in case any other players here experience this problem and are wondering about a remedy.......make sure your graphics card drivers are up to date. I use a Nvidia GeForce 6800, and sure enough, the website had a download posted.

I had a hard drive failure 2 weeks ago and had to purchase another hard drive. And I reinstalled the OS, and the drivers, and then SH4 with all the goodies. The driver on the disk was way out of date. :damn:

Anyway, back up and running and on my way to Hokkaido. :yeah:

Not if it was the same as the old problem with SH3 and nVidia. When looking forward (toward the bow) thru an eyepiece, the dripping water effect would display as white fog, causing a major cut in frame rate. It probably had nothing to do with the eyepiece graphic file.
