The passing of a great Warrior
Years ago I met a retired LCDR by the name of Roy Boehm. He was gruff and salty as any sailor that walked the face of the planet. He survived WW2 and shark attacks while waiting for rescue in the briney cold Pacific Ocean. He pulled up the bodies up dead sailors from the sunken wreckages at Pearl Harbor. He went through UDT training when he was 31 years old and President Kennedy ordered him to found the navy SEAL program upon which he did brilliantly. Roy was SEAL #1. His story is one that can only be summized as being a true American war hero. I am proud to have met this man and go only say to all of you that if you want to know the real story of the navy SEALS, then please read "First SEAL". It is a fascinating history of that proud elite organization, which i am sure you will enjoy. Roy died in December of 08 with no fanfare and no media coverage. I guess he wanted it that way.:salute:
