Now if I were lost at sea, do I get a refueling tanker and major military assets too who are also looking for me? Seems even when lost at sea, the NFL still garners special attention. This seems a little unfair. I feel for these people who are lost, but I also get ticked at the special attention they are getting when no one else would....

Oh I don't know about that. The military did a lot of searching for those Gloucester fishermen in the '91 storm.

Yes that is why they called off the search after 3 days because they 'deserve' special attention.

I'm pretty sure that anyone lost at sea gets special attention. You're just probably noticing it more because the fact that they are NFL players garners HEADLINES ... not special attention from rescuers.

AFAIK, that's pretty standard for SAR, NFL players or not. All the assets available - that's usually the grocery list for anything involving persons missing at sea. Slim chances, made less slims by having more people looking.

The only special attention is what the media's giving them. The Airforce's just enjoying the free publicity.
