Bring Your Own Tabasco
 

Starting in 2011, those wonderful 1/8th ounce saviors will be removed from the MREs. I know it's common for the MRE menu to rotate items in, and rotate less popular items out (even though I hear they still have the "sticks of death"), but this here is a bad choice of items to be removed. But who knows, this might cause the company that produces Tabasco Sauce to increase foreign sales to servicemembers overseas, or this might cause Tabasco Sauce to be a more popular item to be included in care packages sent to the troops from the States.

Why are they removing them?

Oh thank God. At first, I thought they were removing the sauce entirely. Not that I like the stuff or anything, but it is a critical component in the manufacture of the dreaded MRE "tear-gas" bomb.

Secondly, what the hell is up with these menus? Vegetarian ratatouille!? Seriously?
Yeah, just the other day I went out for lunch and had a craving for some good ol' vegetarian ratatouille. Everyone has had that experience, right?

We don't need new and exciting menus. I still haven't figured out exactly what was in the last batch. What they need to do, imo, is send these MRE menu-designers out to the field with a regular unit. That way, they can know the sinking feeling you get when you get an MRE that has only one edible item in it, and the condiment included is strawberry jam, so there is no hope of trading for something better. And perhaps they can learn a bit from seeing which menus are always the last ones to be taken. They might even learn why they should remove the Charms candies (or change their name) when they take a pack on patrol and get smacked in the head for doing so; "Charms are a jinx, dumbass! Everyone knows that!"

Once they get their heads right, we could start working on those T-rat guys.:DL
