Two Careers at Once?
I tried searching for this with no success so, at the risk of asking a possibly dumb question... Can you have two careers going at once or does a new career delete the current career? I've always been a TMO guy and was considering giving RFB a whirl. Problem is, I'm in the middle of (my umpteenth) TMO career and don't want to lose it, so I'm wondering if I can disable TMO mods, pop in RFB and give it a try with a new career. I've never given this any thought before, so before wiping out anything and/or dealing with a dual install, thought I'd ask a dumb question. :D

I dont know if it helps but I have two carriers one german and the other american.
Im assuming you can do two for the same side, just make unique save game names for them. |
I believe your Captain's name has to be different or it will overwrite the current career. If it's the same side. Been awhile since I had 2 going....CH

That's pretty much what I assumed, but you know what they say about assuming. :DL ...Thanks Guys.

You can certainly do it in SH3, so I don't see why SH4 would be any different.
HOWEVER, you might want to have two separate installs. That way you can run two different supermods at the same time. I don't know if TMO and RFB will let you swap out like that in the same game. You might want to wait for people who have done it to reply before you take that chance. |
Yeah, two separate installs would be the way to go. Also, be sure to get MultiSH4 as this will keep your saves separate.

Thanks again for the advice guys. I would prefer to do a dual install, but my drive is getting near full. I went ahead and tried it. Just pulled out the TMO mods, inserted RFB and used a new name. So far all seems ok and the old carreer saves are there. Now I have to name the saves different though in order to tell what's . For example, yesterday I just used "RFB 02-24-09 01".

Soundman, I like your sig. I'm so old that I was building models of the Vigilante back when it was still the A-3-J.

I think that, even though your automatic saves (the "before port" and "leaving port") will be overwritten with your new career, you can still use your "on mission"-saves that you save yourself, if you know what I mean...
IŽd say, go on a mission with your old career, then when just leaving port, save your game with a special name for that save. Then start your new career. A bit messy but I hope you get my point. Good luck! |
I do this all the time I have some careers with TMO and others with RFB. What I do is make a save name and place RFB or TMO at the end so I know which one is which. But I dont think you can have one single career and jump between RFB and TMO that wont work. You can have as many careers as your drive will allow so long as you give them a name and when you go to save make sure you dont over write something else. I use the same CO name every time T.J. Holland my name.

Due to aircraft problems, I have just done a complete re-install. I am running grayback out of Pearl and Seawolf out of Manila, separately. Both on SH4 Patch 1.4. RSRD.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. :salute:

You're very lucky. I don't have almost time to play one career, two would be just impossible for me:wah:
|
You can play as many careers as you want as long as they're saved under different names.
Remember if you're at sea, quit, disable, play something else, then reenable mods, if you don't have the order and mods exactly correct you'll get the good ol' crash to desktop when you try and load the save. |
