How sad....looks like the end to a truly memorable era :nope:

I only hope others will pick it up and continue creating add ons.

Hey, look at the bright side, maybe they'll start a new flightsim company?:hmmm:

This could actually be a good thing for flight sims.

My first love in computer games is racing sims (realistic ones, not Need for Speed style crap). A few years ago, a lot of the big gaming companies were pumping out racing sims. EA had an F1 series made by ISI, Sierra had a great NASCAR series made by Papyrus, and so on.

Then within about a year all of them stopped. Racing sim fans went into despair. But it turned out to be a real blessing in disguise. With the big names out of the way, some smaller groups started quietly putting out very high-quality games. A group of 3 guys made Live for Speed, a former modding group made the GTR series, and ISI went independent and made rFactor. The guys behind Papyrus are supposedly working on a new project as well.

The games haven't come out as quickly as they used to, but without a publisher breathing down their necks, these companies have been able to produce much higher quality games than they did under the big names.

Hopefully the guys behind MSFS find some backing and keep making games independently.
